While many believe that the cyberattacks on Best Korea are the work of Worst Korea, one has to wonder where Kim Jong-un would even find a computer, electricity and the internet to pull off such an attack. :D

South Korean authorities were investigating a hacking attack that brought down the servers of three broadcasters and two major banks on Wednesday, and the army raised its alert level due to concerns of North Korean involvement.

It's hard to believe that DPRK would have the bandwidth to do this crap. Perhaps they're leeching off the Chinese's bandwidth instead?

Sounds like it's time for a certain not "best Korea" to slip, trip, and "accidentally" drop a few depth charges directly over some fiber-optic cables that happen to be crossing under international waters...

I can't say the North did or didn't do it, but there can't possibly be a better target to test a nation's cyber attack capability against then those two countries cause everyone immediately points their fingers at the other guy when it comes to these two.

New leader, new tactics? Sad. Can't we all just get along and have a party?

Hmm, if we assume North Korea's capabilties are terrible as far as computers, electronics, political influence, warfare, etc.... let's play conspiracy theorist! What country or organization would have the most to gain if these two went to war?

Russia.

They are both already at war. There is only an armistice.

Plus, China has the most to gain from any conflict with the Korea's. It would divert our attention from Taiwan...allowing them to make a move. They'd be betting we don't want to be involved in a MAJOR two front war.

The war was declared by the UN, even North Korean is a member. Neat trick going to war with yourself.

South Korea has like the 10th largest economy in the world, and these days, it's one of the healthiest of the 10. So keep guessing, who has been buying Samsung and forgotten Sony?

Actually, China has the most to lose. China is actually the signing body on the truce, not North Korea. The last thing China wants is a Korean War, because the US will then be putting more military resources in what they want to be their sphere of influence.

You're assuming this will result in war immediately. It won't. SK doesn't have the stomach for it. And this administration, well, that's a whole different story...

Its a wonderful opportunity to test SK and US resolve. China & NK have done a good job of convincing the world NK is an out of control spoiled child that China has no influence over. I say that's bullshit. They've created a wonderful situation where NK can probe US and SK resolve, tactics and diplomacy and change China's approaches accordingly.

China's entire military focus is to make themselves into the premier regional power....to keep us out of their sphere of influence while at the same time preparing for sustained military action in Taiwan. Almost all of their military buildup, to include the massive buildup of forces along the strait, is for the invasion and occupation of Taiwan.

If war resumes on the Korean peninsula, chances are we will be too concerned with the MILLIONS of casualties that are sure to occur. War on the peninsula weakens our position while strengthening China (in a military aspect, politically and economically would do some damage in the short term).

Actually, no. A North Korean general acted as the senior delegate representing both North Korea AND the Chinese military, it was this general that signed the document.

The only reason ROK hasn't gone to war is because we keep telling them not too. The current President hates NK (they assassinated either one or both of her parents, can't remember exactly) and she will have no problem at all going to war with them again.

It is correct that China doesn't want it to happen though. If a war happened it would mean our troops would be now bordering China directly.

Sweetleader, I agree somewhat, but their are other reasons. South Korea has had a great surge in their economic growth and potential, but it's still a bit fragile. The South Koreans fear unification or warfare either one will upset the apple cart. They know from Germany's experience what it would mean to take in the North Koreans with the shape that country is in.

As for China taking over Taiwan by force, I don't think so. They may want it desperately but it's like an apple on a branch just too far out to reach. They know what will happen if they try and truth is. If the world keeps rolling their way, they won't have to fight a war to take Taiwan, they will just be able to buy it.
