Recording SFX For Video Games

Wow...well this wouldn't have been a waste of time if we actually got to see where these sounds were used. Other than that what's the point? Just animal noises, dude ringing a bell, and some people rubbing cloth together.

2/10. Quite disappointing.

Yarn, been to Disney years ago, pretty much the say thing they do.

Would've been better if they had the cats munch on someone SFX. :)

I always admired the guys (and gals, if any) doing sound fx for whatever.

I think even the biggest studios share content sometimes. Protoss building warping in SC uses the same sound AvP 2012 does for some electrical effects. I could swear some of Doom 3's screams are used in multiple Hollywood films, too. It's crazy, really.

Not sure about Doom 3 but you hear these a lot
Wilhelm Scream - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdbYsoEasio
Howie Scream - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf6_hok4-lo

They're in stock sound packs so they get used a lot. Plus it's a bit of an in-joke for filmmakers.

Many effects you hear in games are sourced from sound libraries. Many sound designers in the game industry don't actually own any recording equipment of their own.

Then the Alien walked by me and rung the bell.
