Well that didn't take long, now did it? I think we are going to see a lot more of this as the entertainment industry tries to bury Dotcom in legal bills.

An anti-piracy group with the stated aim of shutting down file-hosting services by strangling their finances has wasted no time in going after Kim Dotcom’s new baby. Robert King of StopFileLockers says that his outfit has started a campaign to have the payment processor accounts of Mega resellers terminated. King, who is affiliated with the adult industry, says that from the start Mega was never intended to be a legitimate service and has “all the fundamental qualities” of an infringing file-locker.

From my research this guy has all the qualities of a child molestor. I have no real evidence, but you know, he is. Shall alert the FBI and all his buisness partners.

StopFileLockers? Really? Why not StopFTP or StopYoutube or StopEmails?

So the file sharing industry is going to war with the porn industry.

This could get messy.

I love how you're guilty until proven innocent when it comes to the American media industry.

Glad we have a reputable guy here attacking him. Stay classy pornographer.

The entertainment industry should stop making movies and start going after people like Kim Dotcom. The outcomes are always more entertaining than the movies that have been released in the past 10 years.

Metallica vs. Napster... still a better love story than Twilight.

lol .. I'm going to guess that Dotcom already had this in mind and probably has a backup plan.

All great mega-villains have a backup plan! Which makes me think the next Bond villain should a mega-pirate.

Just a guess, but I'm guessing because file lockers are used much more often, are more pointed towards the "average" internet user (i.e. someone who doesn't want to do much), and are often set up in a business model such that they probably make a relative bank worth of money based upon people downloading files from them. Not sure FTP or Email can really be held to that level of scrutiny

StopFileLockers = a guy sitting in his den with custom letterhead and a laptop. There's a whole cottage industry of "entrepreneurs" aka copyright trolls that have sprung up, registered a domain name and then proceed to spam DMCA takedown formletters en masse, then turn around and spam copyright holders with improvised charts about how their "advocacy group", "legal team", or whathaveyou is protecting the copyright holder's IP and, long story short, attempt to extract a monthly fee from the copyright holder on a contract basis.

These are the same dorks that used to run fake torrents and scrape IP's then spam formletters to ISP's. That kinda tapered off with the rise of Rapid$hit and friends - DMCA takedown spamming is a lot simpler with more immediate results.

Ugh no edit. Point being: "An anti-piracy group" sounds a lot more important than it actually is in this context.

And now that he's been accused of it. We got him.

I wish. Lobbyists are the poison of Washington , they ruin just about everything they touch and are probably one of the worst aspects of Capitalism.

That's not capitalism. Big lobby is politicians opening shop and saying, "open for business".

I knew this idea would not work.

All files are piracy until proven otherwise, and if they can't decrypt them, well they're all piracy. So everyone who uses the site is by definition an international criminal.

The US government has WAY too much power when it comes to this crap. They treat it like it's terrorism. In fact they put even more effort into it. It took them 10 freaking years to get Bin Laden.

It seems premature to go after a new product just because of the person who created it. What they are doing now is criminal against him.

Infringing?
Looks totally legit !

Why would I buy a 1 TB 2.5" portable hard drive for cheap, which I can bring anywhere as a cloud in my pocket, when I can spend more money to upload to Mega?

Naaaah, Mega is not for piracy.

^>.>

Some who has never heard of the word convenience.

Kind of like saying, why continuously pay netflix when I can just buy it and carry the movies in a binder!

Who wants to carry a hard drive in their pocket everywhere they go? I get sick of my phone being in my pocket.
