NOTE: Again, from Fudzilla until I can find another source.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Richland APU to last from 2013 to 1H 2014
Richland APU which replaces/upgrades the current Trinity APU with Radeon 8000-series GCN cores will last from 2013 to 1H 2014.

By 1H 2014, Kaveri will be introduced using a new "Steamroller B" core paired with Sea Islands GCN cores.
Back at the Hot Chips Conference AMD’s newly appointed CTO Mark Papermaster mentioned these cores and he also said that you should expect better performance compared to existing Piledriver cores, as well as greater parallelism.

AMD calls this core a “third-generation modular core” and with that in mind the Bulldozer core used in FX parts was the first one.

If you want a deep dive you should read Anand’s article about Steamroller here.
The new Kaveri core will use new Sea Islands graphics and the reference design is codenamed Bantry. However, it will be quite some time before we see it in action, probably more than a year from today, but AMD at least has a plan.

Kabini APUs will be able to pair with discrete mobile GPUs
This is going to be interesting. The low-powered Kabini APUs will have a feature that Brazos does not-- dual GPU capability.

Codenames for the new mobile parts are as follows:

  • Seymour XT - HD 8400M
  • Sun UL XT - HD 8500M
  • Sun UL Pro - HD 8600M
  • Mars 128 LP, Pro, or XT - HD 8700M

The question is: What will these be used for?

High-end Windows 8 tablets with low-powered parts? Low-powered ultrabook with switchable graphics?

This is what next gen consoles will use I'm betting!

You should check how much Watt such systems take, Wii U is rather low, both Sony and MS tend to go with much much more and hope revisions will take everything down. Not sure if those rumors are true that Sony would support 4k resolutions ;) if they are then what you see here might not be enough to get even close.
