Does anyone know what the required PSU size is for a set of 7870s? it doesnt look like theres many CF reviews out there that have a power draw with them.

im currently using an older BFG 800, 12v rails are rated at 2x 12v @22A, and 2x 12v@36.

AMD recommends a 600W or stronger PSU on their website. Seems about right.

I have two 7950 and I have a power monitor, so I can see how much power my system is using.

I guess the 7870 will use less power than a 7950.

Running on default clocks (800/1250) the max power was 480W (1.03v)
OC to 1000/1250 the max power was 560W (1.10v)
OC to 1000/1400 the max power was 600W (1.10v)
OC to 1100/1400 the max power was 650W (1.15v)

Also my CPU is overclocked.

Your 800w should have no problem with your new setup. I use a 750w Corsair for crossfire 6950s which pull around the same wattage as your 7870s.

Wow, I never actually realised how much overclocking adds. Boy do I feel generally ignorant.

seeing those power draws makes me feel better. now i just need to pick up a new I5 and mobo so im not bottlenecking on my 955.
