Black Ops 2 PC Patch Boosts FOV Cap to 90

For those of you frustrated with the limited FOV options in Black Ops 2, there is a patch out now that bumps the FOV cap to 90. While that isn't much, at least it's something. Oh yeah, and horses don't fall through levels now either. ;)

Good news! Treyarch has pushed out a PC patch which boosts that cap to 90, meaning it will feel less squeezed and weird on your monitor. It's a pleasant surprise as Treyarch stated a few weeks ago that it would be capped at 80, citing a "technical limitation" rather than a design decision.
 
They state "technical limitations" for everything. then it turns out they're just lazy asses. :D
 
Sure, it's a technical limitation because the game engine is so old it can't be fixed.

Plus it's fine on the TV over a console, so fuck you PC guys.:eek::eek:

It's based off Quake 3s engine... But Quake 3 could have pretty much any FOV...

The only "technical" reason I can think of is when people make lazy assets that only stretch so far...meaning there are gaps at the edges of the screen when using larger monitors...
 
Adjusting the view frustum is a pretty trivial thing, magoo. Odds are that the core matrix functions in the current engine were inherited from the Quake 3 codebase, where the view frustum was trivially modifiable (via a cvar).
 
If you care about FOV.....hell if you KNOW what FOV is, you probably should be playing a better fps than COD/Blops.
