AMD has collaborated with the University of Frankfurt’s Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) to deliver a new standard in power-efficient supercomputing with the SANAM supercomputer, securing the number two ranking on the latest Green500™ List. The supercomputer will aid FIAS in quantum chromodynamics research. Powered by 420 AMD FirePro™ S10000 dual-GPU server graphics cards based on AMD Graphics Core Next Architecture, the SANAM supercomputer redefines supercomputing with its incredible power efficiency.
 
Its a shame number one is made by intel.

for now. The difference isn't very big. The Sanam computer is also much faster.

Sanam 421,199,565 mflops

Beacon (the intel one) 112,199,861 mflops

Kinda like a power supply the larger you go the less efficient it is in most cases. Sanam is over 4 times faster than Beacon. Impressive work AMD.
