Help me set up my extender

I got a Cisco router (works just fine) and an Edimax range extender/AP. My question: can I setup the extender to be seamless so that there is only the Cisco showing, but the benefits of the extender? I've tried setting it up both as an AP and extender, and both require login to the edimax.

From a bit of research, I need to create a VLAN? How do I do this?
