I've thought about making this thread for some time now. It will be the go-to place for fan information. This way people can look at the data for themselves and pick a fan that suits them. Feel free to discuss, recommend, and ask for help with fans in this thread.

Tips on how to use this resource:

• The accuracy of test equipment and test methods can only go so far. A difference of 1* C or 1 dB(A) is usually within the margin of error.
• Some reviews measure airflow and others measure the temperature of a processor. This is an important difference. If you are looking for a case fan, you should be looking for airflow. If you are looking for a heatsink fan, you should be looking for heatsink performance (or airflow in a restricted environment).
• Don't just trust one fan roundup, try to find the same fan in many different roundups. If you see a single fan (such as the Gentle Typhoon) consistently placing at the top of the chart in different roundups then you know that it is a good fan.

You should post the link to the martins liquid labs fan comp as well. Probably the best one to see how CFM changes when a fan has to push through fins.

Bump just added a new roundup to the list. I really hope you guys like this resource.

I'm still updating this thread, XbitLabs added a new roundup a few days ago and it shows that the Corsair SP120 is an excellent fan.

Good question, I wish there was but I haven't seen any. There was one article on Bit-Tech where they were comparing many different types of fans in different sizes, and one of them was a 200mm. In terms of noise-to-CFM the 200mm fan was three times as efficient as the 120mm fans. I'll try to find it.
