Something has happened to the old eBay. We aren't sure what, but it definitely has a hipster hideousness to it now.

I like that at the very end there's a picture of a rolex. That's exactly what I want to buy from ebay.
Ebay.... people still use that site..

It's like Apple, Facebook and Ebay had a three way baby. Hipster is definitely a way to describe it. I suppose whatever skin they use is fine, as long as the core product remains functional and enticing to use.

This with FF v3.6.28 lol
Which wasn't EOL'd very long ago at all, and not to mention FF 15 wasn't worth a damn with the all the problems I had with the add-ons I use. The trade off isn't worth the upgrade til yet for me sadly, and ebay DAMN sure isn't worth it. Especially since they've long ago decided to snubb what MADE them: individual sellers.

What are some of the horrific web design elements you noticed in the new design?
I haven't given a crap about Ebay in probably a good 5 or 6 years. Buying something is a joke, because you are always going up against someone who has more money than sense. The people that "must win it at all costs" and drive the price up past what you will pay in a store with tax.
That same problem is "cool" when you are the seller though -- too bad when the auction is over you will always owe 15 or 20 dollars after all the fees.
I remember back in the old school days of ebay -- i.e their first year or two. Back when I had dialup and before things like paypal or any sort of verification was around. I sold a few hundred dollars worth of stuff on ebay as a kid, never paid any of the fees because all you ever needed to list stuff was an email address. No phone number, address, all that jazz.
The new look is horrible. It has been dumbed down and is much less useful. The fonts are now about 3X the size as previous so you have to scroll more to see everything. After a quick search I can see only about 3 items in a list view now. People with 1080p monitors have the same issue and are disgusted to say the least.
On top of the cartoonish new look, many of the simple and useful check boxes are not easily visible so you have to scroll or click on Advanced and then click a few more extra times to get what you want. It's more work to do the same things as before.
Anyone with any common sense who really tries to use this new mess will be quickly frustrated. They tried to make it look better with no real regard to being useful.
This brotha isn't interested in keeping up with them.IMO hipster is the new mainstream -- as in mainstream folks who want to be seen and acknowledged as "unique". Keeping up with the Joneses, but with different labels.
