Today Intel Corporation issued a statement in response to unsubstantiated news reports about comments made by Intel CEO Paul Otellini in a meeting with employees. Intel has a long and successful heritage working with Microsoft on the release of Windows platforms, delivering devices that provide exciting experiences, stunning performance, and superior compatibility. Intel fully expects this to continue with Windows 8.

Intel, Microsoft and our partners have been working closely together on testing and validation to ensure delivery of a high-quality experience across the nearly 200 Intel-based designs that will start launching in October. Intel CEO Paul Otellini is on record as saying "Windows 8 is one of the best things that ever happened to Intel," citing the importance of the touch interface coming to mainstream computing and the huge wave of exciting new Ultrabook™, tablet and convertible device innovations coming to the market.

They've had a long and successful working with Microsoft from back in the days of yore when computers were actually nothing but an empty case filled with hot glue and some random steel bolts that delivered exciting experiences even though the performance wasn't as stunning as one might expect.

All software ships with known bugs. It’s up to the developer to decide what the acceptable level is before going RTM. Otellini himself should know this. This looks like a strange but certainly out-of-context comment that was quoted. This is much ado about nothing.

Yeah, I don't know what the big deal is. There are usually patches on consumer version release date.

I didn't think the original story made much sense, but if Otellili said it, he should own up to it. If he didn't say it, shame on the "source".

Anyone in the first two-four months after release is a beta tester. Maybe Intel has forgotten their Sandy Bridge motherboard glitch, and the angst that followed.

You missed out heritage, Mr. Sillypants!

Some computer parts are still made of hotglue and bolts! (oh and here if you cant read other wordings!

ACK...successful heritage working with...

Exactly! Though correcting others is kind of mean! :p

LOL, that brought back fond memories of the Camino/Rambus debacle!
