Facebook Ditches Facial Recognition in Europe

Facebook has made the decision to shut down facial recognition entirely in Europe, at least for the immediate future. The decision was made after Facebook came under considerable scrutiny in recent months over individual privacy issues. Facebook will continue talks with officials on recommendations and guidelines for facial recognition.

. Discussions about the facial recognition tool were constructive, and Facebook is getting better at being transparent about the way it uses the data it collects.
 
Could enough for Europe but not for America? I want facial recognition disabled as well... dammit!
 
I thought they got rid of this ages ago? I remember when it first came out it would tag me as my cousins because we looked similar, complete disaster!

I wonder how much they spent developing this feature without doing any sort of market research first.
