I know dealing with tech support is a pain in the ass but is that really an excuse to start shooting up a building? By the way, who does a drive by on a bicycle?

Dell tech support specialists working into the evening on Monday night got a nasty surprise when an unidentified shooter opened fire on their offices, hitting three windows on the first three floors of Building Seven on Dell’s campus in Round Rock, Texas.

well, it's not surprise, as specially to those who had deal with them.

I doubt it had anything to do with IT support. 9:30 at night on a bicycle. Probably some punk kid that lives in the appartments around the complex.

I used to live within mortar range of the Redmond campus.

There were nights I was sore tempted...

I bet it's this kid. If you can't trust a printer, then you certainly can't trust Dell.

Wait a minute, a Dell tech support building...in Texas? I don't get it. Is Texas the name of a neighborhood in Mumbai, India or something?

I'm guessing some moron kid who didn't know the building was occupied which doesn't make it any less heinous of a crime.

Damn it, you beat me to it.

Anyway, another wank who can't control themself.

I've heard of drive-by shootings, but this is the first ride-by shooting I've heard. of. Next we'll be reading of walk-by shootings. Oh wait, those already happen. :p

I was also thinking India. :D

If it was business support then Texas is right, HP's business tech support is based in Texas somewhere, everyone else call India for your troubles.

yep don't forget business get a higher priority than consumers. They make peanuts off of you while they generate the majority of their income from businesses.

So in other words if you have a support contract with Dell for 100k you won't be calling india, you and your 1k-2k pc get to talk to india!

OK. Hands up from everyone who thought "Wow, they went ALL THE WAY to INDIA to shoot up a tech support building?"

Haha that was actually my first thought!

I was actually in Round Rock a few weeks ago near the Dell buildings. They actually have like 10 massive buildings there.

Pretty brave doing something like this in Texas considering the locals jump at the chance to whip out their own guns and dish out justice.

Yeah, businesses pay big money for tech support to be within the US.

Some of it is actually required by law, like anything government I don't think they are allowed to outsource to India even if they wanted to.

Also, unlike with end-users where they seem to be off to make a quick buck and just offer cheapest prices, businesses tend to be long-term relationships and all it takes is a couple high-profile incidents with screw ups on script-reading India techs to have the entire 50,000+ computer lease program dropped for a competitor upon contract renewal, so service is emphasized since time is money.

LMAO!!! I instantly thought of Carl Johnson as well.

Man, that's one game I'd LOVE them to do a remake.

I was amazed how much my company spends on tech support for a few of the IT items that I support/administer/configure. When I contact them, for the most part, they're located within the US and speak either perfectly fluent English or a reasonable accent, but not like being a Dell home user and calling India for tech support.

I know the building in question. Dell does have support there. The shooter was probably some pissed off bicycle riding hipster douche bag who never handled a gun before. Asshole was probably wearing a fedora or a beret and stopped at Starbucks afterwards. In all seriousness, Dell does crap like laying off tech support workers on Christmas Eve. Finding a motive for someone to seek revenge and shoot at them isn't too hard.
