From the Disney Research Labs, new research is being conducted on tactile perception. The new studies are allowing tactile sensing to be transferred from almost any object to touch screens by way of a process known as ‘Reverse Electrovibration’.
 
Wait, so this device makes people vibrate when they touch eachother when both people are using this device?

Kinky.
 
I wasn't really impressed until they said it can mimic (in some way) textures. That could be useful for games.
 
Heh, that video is close to a blatant lie, atleast it hides one important aspect:
According to the research paper on their page the tactile feedback is applied to each and every finger (Section 3.3.2), which means even though they are showing only one finger all of them are getting the same texture. This renders the whole thing pretty much useless for anything more detailed than the marker for the visually impaired.
