We told you on Thursday that Yahoo had been hacked, exposing an estimated 450k accounts. Well, Yahoo hung out the all-clear signal Friday to all of its users that it was safe, the problem was fixed and additional security measures have been put into place.

We have taken swift action and have now fixed this vulnerability, deployed additional security measures for affected Yahoo users, enhanced our underlying security controls, and are in the process of notifying affected users

There will never be an excuse or forgiveness for storing passwords as plain text.

I just moved all of my stuff to KeePass after this. It's been something I've been meaning to do since the LinkedIn hack. I had a decent system, but generating 9 (for places like this) 12 (for things that actually matter) character passwords is just easier and safer this way.
