One of the most anticipated trade shows of the year is about to get underway next week and amidst all the hype and flash of the convention, we get to see the best and brightest games and hardware the industry has to offer. Digital Trends has put together a brief recap of what we can expect to see and what’s missing at E3 this year.

The video game industry comes out in their figurative Sunday best, games will be unveiled, and new hardware will get a closer look. It is the Super Bowl for gamers.

Theres a pile a sequels and not quite sequels on that page, though AC3 looks like it may be good. Depends on how much Ubisoft screw it up. The usual suspects (halo/gears of war) look like more of the same. Tomb Raider/God of war, may be good. But could go either way. Crysis (and any crytek game) always has boring gameplay unless you make a big stack of barrels and blow them up and crash jeeps into them for 30 minutes. Far cry 3 looks boring as hell. I think the most interesting games shall be the ones you don't see here.

Star wars thing might be ok. But there shall probably be no galactic dance off. Noooooooooooo!!! :(

In the shot of Prey 2, the (alien?) writing is upside down Japanese characters (オポマ) with bits added...

This year there isn't anything in particular that I'm looking forward too. Most of the stuff presented at E3 are pretty much stuff that we've heard off already, just more details revealed.

release date for what?

wiiU?

they are not telling us @E3 they announced last week. also they are not saying the price either just what the WiiU can do and Games Games and more Games tomorrows press conference is going to be 90% WiiU

Personally, i think somewhere around nov 11/18th if november release date, which is AROUND the same day that the wii released(nov 19th 2006) and was a sunday.

the wii tablet is officially called the WiiU gamepad
other things known

nfc reader/writer built into the gamepad
instead of slidepads they now have dual clickable sticks
the gamepad is also a full function tv remote (not sure if this will be a Universal Remote or not-should be though they did not mention this in yesterdays conference)

miiverse (mii Universe) turn the wiiu on and the screen shows tiles of games...and miis around said tiles representing people actually playing said game at that time-from people in your country OR a country that speaks your language. this shows your mii's, your friends mii's and miis of people playing said game shown on tile

full function chat -without having to leave the game just "paused"- for hints etc.

video chat

accessory:
wiiU pro controller -a wireless traditional dual stick controller -for "core multiplayer games- basically take the the wiiu gamepad, remove the screen and make it a traditional controller-there you go.

umm compatible with: wiimote motion+ wiimote, nunchuck, balanceboard classic controller and classic controller pro

lots more :)

Can't wait to hear more about ArmA 3 and the Community Alpha. :D
