Anti-Piracy Group Asks Court to Gag Pirate Party

And by "gag" you know they probably mean "choke the crap out of them"

The Hollywood-backed anti-piracy outfit BREIN is going all out to make The Pirate Bay inaccessible to the Dutch public. After successfully blocking The Pirate Bay through court, and then censoring proxy sites that linked to it, they are now demanding that the Pirate Party should be banned from “discussing” how easily Internet censorship can be circumvented. The political party is baffled by the proposed gag-order and has asked the court to lift all censorship efforts.

And whatever you think about digital piracy they are doing a good job of making these guys show their true colors. When you are willing to tell a group they can no longer TALK about something, THINK something, be afraid. It's better to have the internet we have now than what these people want it to become.

Agreed. Those anti-piracy groups would have it be a 1984-esque dystopian nightmare if they could.

And to think that all this censorship and insanity is generally centered around a bunch of mostly bad movies that people watch because they don't have something else to do for the roughly 90 minutes it takes to view one.

The general public could pretty easily defeat the entire movie and music industry by boycotting it for a few years to starve RIAA and MPAA to death. Not that such a thing would ever happen. Humans are far to enthralled with the idea of being entertained with moving pictures or filling silence with melody.

I can't help but think they shouldn't have called themselves the pirate party. Something like People Stopping the Exploitation of Children Party would have worked so much better. Hell, It's the same tactic politians use.
