Another milestone passed today in the world of computing. Twenty years ago today the first email attachment was sent, signaling the flood of MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension ) that was to follow. It certainly has grown to monstrous proportions, topping out at a trillion attachments each and every day.

The historic text message was accompanied by a picture of four Bellcore employees (the Telephone Chords barbershop quartet), and a song – “Let me send you e-mail”.

Holy crap, it's crazy to think that some of these technologies are this old. I always think the 90's is 10 years ago, but it's 20 years ago, time flies. Also makes me feel old. :p
