Settlements like this are funny because, after millions are paid to the lawyers, the rest of the money is divided among Netflix users...all 20 million of them. Your $0.25 settlement check costs more to print than it is worth. ;)

Netflix is paying $9 million to settle a class action lawsuit that alleged the company violated federal law by retaining information about former customers' viewing habits and rental history. The settlement includes no admission of wrongdoing, and the company continues to push for changes in legislation that would allow it to make more uses of customer data.

I guess the upside is Netflix's going to be a little better about protecting our privacy. Now if only we can get Google to fall in line.

Not if they combine it with my $0.75 mortgage settlement check.

So after paying out on lawsuits and losing over half your value, how is that increased revenue model working for you, Netflix?
