Google is coughing up $$$ ($5 every 90 days) to anyone willing to let the company track them online? Wow...five whole dollars? I guess I shouldn't criticize them, at least it is opt-in and better than them taking it without your permission. Any takers? ;)

Google is paying cash to track your movements on the Web. If you sign up and get the "extension" to your Google Chrome browser, you receive a $5 gift card from Amazon. You get additional $5 gift cards for every three months you stick with the program. Google says it will use the data to improve its operations and offer better products and service to consumers.

hmm just works on Chrome? No root kits or invasive searches/monitoring? So I can sign up and just use Chrome for stuff I dont mind being out on public record and log off it and use some other browser for my other sites. If that's the case... I dont see any problems.

That's 5 cents a day.

Even though I'm desperate for money and have no problem with them knowing I'm a nerd who loves cars/guns/freaky porn. I think I'm worth a bit more than that.

If it was $10/month I'd be cool with it.

I thought they already did this ... Or is this just allowing them to put a name/profile to the record?

and:

I use chrome daily -- love it, as long as there was a button i could hit that deactivates the plugin/monitoring I would do it. I mean I Have to keep SOME secrets (asiantrannyvampirepublicnuditysex) haha

They have been doing this from the get-go. In this case, you just get paid once you "click agree to be tracked.

When you think about, $5 every 3 months is not really that much for what you're giving up. Google is not going to point the finger at you and say "you went to a donkey prOn website", but you're letting someone look over your shoulder the whole time you're on the web browser. The more comfortable people get with sharing everything, the more privacy will go out the window.

They can just give me the $5 up front and I'll just tell them.
[H]ardOCP and Porn..

This doesn't seem like itd be very helpful anyway, since the type of person who'd sign up for this is probably going to have a very narrow profile.

I'm opting in. I'm glad to contribute to user research. I see it like donating my body to science or being an organ donor. As long as the party collecting research isn't using my identity establish loans in my name, they can study it all they want.

Sites are tracking you anyway, but I'm not opting in for something on top of all that. Especially for that kind of cash. Google is the true wtf of the internet, but we rely on it so much...

5$ a day maybe

but they are already doing this.. lol
