M350 Race Machine

born from the idea of creating a powerful device even in minimal space in order to compete in the "power density Challenge" we organized http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?t=2421362

FEATURES
case M350
power supply Pico PSU 160w with power brick 150W
motherboard Asus F1A75-I Deluxe
processor AMD Llano a8 3850 TDP100 4core 2.9GHz
Ram G. Skill DDR3-2133MHz 4GB Ripjaws (2 X 2GB)
HDSSD Crucial M4 hdSSD 64gb
heathsink HSM 1U server gr843 with Scithe slim 100mm fan

CASE
Already known and appreciated by users
Built in rugged iron, is wide open to vents,
can 'only be equipped with pico power supply,
but lacks an uncomfortable position for the front usb and a complex
handle to remove the top, and also the aesthetic quality of
the front is really "poor" and it is here that I spoke with a mod
replacing the plastic piece with a handmade black acrylic 3 mm thick
with the inclusion of a lamptron switch and a USB output well available.
SIZE 62 X 200 X 192 tot 2380 cm3

before

after

POWER SUPPLY
minimum also has great features' and helps
significantly improve fuel economy. just beneath the HD

BOARD

Asus does not discuss ... but light and shadow. is a beautiful and well-
end provided with an endless series of utilities and a very detailed bios
It has a nice but difficult to use the remote control made for small fingers
Nothing to be said for all the drivers impeccable.
equipment of good standard with Bluetooth, wireless, and DisplayPort.
4 USB 2.0 and two 3.0
all at a significant cost

PROCESSOR

I'm glad I chose a 3850 Llano APU latest
generation of AMD APU,the computational power is similar to the
Intel 3 Series, but that as more graphics power
revealing itself as a viable solution for a PC, balanced in all its aspects.
here is all in the box

MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

to adapt this processor 100TDP to a small MITX system with a small heathsink
we need downvolt but here was the surprise so you can lower the vcore
up to 1,225 from 1,415, and that wasnt necessary to decrease the clock so no
sacrifice of performance.
At this point the best solution was the utility K10STAT small but efficient
that allows you to adjust the pstates switchables with different profiles
without going through the bios ... here are my three profiles

and now
CONSUMPTION with board default
idle 26 full 145
CONSUMPTION with K10STAT activated
idle 22 full 105
TEMPERATURES with board default
idle 32 full OUT
TEMPERATURES with K10STAT activated
idle 30 full 64

the average consumption is similar than the Intel 3-series solutions because 'the condition of full is rarely reached and the quad core is pretty quit and the fan is inaudible at idle 1200gm

default profile relationship with cpuid

now we move to HD SSD boot time and performance

3DMark Vantage card / processor to default

Here we are on the global values of three times a Intel2100 and although not high in
could ever be a good value for a APU

we welcome your comments

ps.sorry for my english..i live in france

I agree, it looks great. I would remove the stickers, but that's my preference.

Ist it a custom heatsink?? Its such a great build. really impressive. would be nice to se a 3dmark 2006 test, i have always use that as a reference since its been here for so long :)

It good that the board undervolts, very few m-itx does that. but it important for noci and cooling. 20W extra og less on a 2,4 liter case .......

is a standard production heathsink 1u servers and you can 'find also
dynatron
http://www.dynatron-corp.com/en/product_detail_1.aspx?cv=1-3-139&id=77&in=0
with the same characteristics
I'll try to test 'to do something with 3dmark 2006

Thanks to all for comments

Built in rugged iron

The case is made of aluminum. Try sticking a magnet to it. If it were iron or steel the magnet would stick.

That's an awesome acrylic face. Love it!

as per your request here are the results with 3DMarks 06 with system default

here also I put a picture taken recently with the keyboard SMK Link
available now in Europe that seems to me aesthetically and functionally adapts to the object

Hey, that's an interesting looking keyboard. Is that a touch pad in the top center?

at the request of some users here is a drawing of the front

nb -mm3 thick

Nice build. How did you secure the fan?

From the thread he linked in the first post... he attached the fan with a small piece of velcro.
