Remember OnStar's idiotic tracking plan we told you about last week? The company has had a change of heart and decided to scrap the plan. OnStar now says, if it ever does decided to track users after cancellation, it will be "opt-in" only.

"We realize that our proposed amendments did not satisfy our subscribers," OnStar President Linda Marshall said in a statement about its change of course. "This is why we are leaving the decision in our customers' hands. We listened, we responded and we hope to maintain the trust of our more than 6 million customers."

BS. 'Our proposed amendments did not satisfy our subscribers' - nobody in their right mind would have thought subscribers would be PLEASED about continuing to be tracked after cancelling. This about face is purely because the government got involved (Charles Schumer calling for an investigation).

Translation: "Shit, we got caught. Ok you guys got me, haha. We'll change the policy."

But will they?

Problem is, they can change the TOS all they want; the terms still don't apply to NON-CUSTOMERS (i.e., ones not using the product).

They realized "Oops, this isn't going to be legal", and made the call to cancel it.
