A little confused on ram choice.

Building a new system, I5-2500k on a P67 board.

Gonna be moderately to heavily OC'ed and it's used mostly for heavy gaming and movie watching (720p/1080p occasionally).

Is there a clear difference one vs. the other? Aside from price which is minor.

edit - I also run some VMware workstations sometimes.

Get ddr3 1333 Sandy bridge has no gains from a higher speed ram. And all overclocks are done on the multiplier and not the bclock.

1600 CAS8 is a better choice than 1866 CAS9, that said gains are minor. Check your motherboard for memory overclock options.
Sandy Bridge is 1333, Ivy Bridge goes higher.
The Sandy Bridge memory bandwith/architechture allows the CPU to workabout as fast as possible. at 1333. It does overclock.

Find some CAS 6 1333 memory. I found that it makes a bigger difference than running at 1600.
