HP Zr2x40w Lineup

I took the image of the ZR2440w and measured it and got a 16:10 aspect ratio. The others measured 16:9. So if the image is correctly proportioned, it's going to be 16:10. That means it might be similar to the U2412M, if not the same panel.

The question for me is the price point for the monitors once they get into broader distribution channels.

The $729 for the 27" is the cheapest MSRP from a major manufacturer for that resolution by a solid $200. If it's like the zr24, prices could easily drop to ~$650 or lower, which could make it a game changer.

HP's warranty support etc. for the zr24 was reportedly quite good.

Wish there was a 20" 16:10 in there to go with a 30" zr30w :(

From the looks of it - RIP 16:10

Hmm, I was trying to device between the old ZR24 and the Dell U2412M, getting two of them... Probably won't wait until October anyway, the new model is gonna be $400+ for months just like the old one was, the old one is down to $350 tho and Dell's can be had for less with discounts.

Hmm... any chance any of the new 24 or 27" IPS panels will have a glossy screen finish?

Actually, I think it is a 4:3 aspect ratio (1600 x 1200) that is typically deployed for what you want ... If I am inferring correctly ... A 16:10 at 20" would either have the wrong number of vertical pixels (in portrait orientation), or the wrong pixel pitch - I think ...

Reading the specs on the HP ZR2440w surprised me. I wasn't expecting a 1920x1200 monitor to be anything but an 8-bit IPS panel, but according to the specs it makes it look like its a 6-bit + FRC. I am curious to see if there will be any issues with banding or other visible clues of dithering with this monitor.

there are no banding issues with the U2412M which is a 1920x1200 6bit+FRC monitor :)
