What's the line from that stupid movie again? Something along the lines of "who watches the watchmen?"

Wikileaks had planned to release a raft of data on the bank, which subsequently hired a new chief security officer earlier this year. The apparent five gigabytes worth of information was said to have included files from one executive's hard drive, as well as the entire US no-fly list.

I wonder if Assange is going to charge him $20 million for that.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange now makes his associates sign a draconian nondisclosure agreement that, among other things, asserts that the organization’s huge trove of leaked material is “solely the property of WikiLeaks,” according to a report Wednesday.
I'm pretty sure that the leaked material is the sole property of the organization that it was stolen from.

Why would the no fly list be such a problem?

Oh no, people know who can't fly now. Such a security risk!

me too. I bet Bank of America paid this guy a ton of money.

that my thought, I was half expecting something along the lines of...."a charge Domscheit-Berg denied from his newly purchased million dollar island home"

The strange thing is, Domscheit-Berg, who's supposed to have done the destroying, is trying to run his own version of WikiLeaks now. So what kinda idiot that went through the trouble of stealing documents, with the potential to ruin their own lives, is going to trust him with their data now? He's known to destroy stuff on a whim!

BWUAHAHAHAHA everyone called their bluff and now all he can say is someone deleted the data.........

This needs to be investigated by the FTC (plus independent investigators) and such...... heavily

Daniel Domscheit-Berg; advocate for freedom and transparancy, or bank owned criminal mastermind?

Like I've basically been saying for months on here... the wikileaks guy, and his entire entourage is a giant gaping ahole.

Case proven.

And boy is that a fishy link.... a .no website? what is that? norway? Meh

according to him it was to protect the source, which makes sense.

I would prefer someone leak Chase info, I hate them much more than I hate BoA.

Conspiracy theories abound. Did they ever even have the data? Did they accept bribes to delete it? Either way, they got smeared.

Yeah, I had doubts that they had all that much data b4 this.
Now, I am pretty sure they never had as much, or what they claimed the data was, in the first place.

If the documents were really in the hands of Wikileaks, then this says something about who truly has the power in this world. Governments can be smeared without fear of serious retribution. Big business, though, well they can't be touched.

I was looking forward to the BoA releases... if what they were up to has anything to do with any of the bad things going on in this world it's really a shame we now won't find out those details.

Either they are lying and they never had that much data or any data at all...

or

Wikileaks are all completely, staggeringly moronic that they did not back up the data.

Gold or lead? You have one day to decide.

You think any of these internet tough guys aren't going to bitch up when threatened with death? Like the hero that hacked the security contractor recently. He's pretty much fucked.

I'll remember this every time I hear certain people pipe up that "Assange and Wikileaks are internet heroes!" They're more like rebels without a clue. I keep alternating backups of all my stuff in external drives, and none of that is potentially world-changing classified data. I doubt anyone but me is really concerned about what happens to my bird porn collection. These guys are supposed to be the "pros" though. They are supposed to be fixing all the world's corruption, etc, yet they lack basic file management skills. Sure, David may have slain Goliath with a sling, but David had also killed lions with his bare hands prior and had God on his side. What does Assange have besides an ego bigger than Duke Nukem's?

Maybe the people running Wikiderps should go back to bagging groceries before they lance yet another windmill.

Probably cause the people on the list aren't what we have been led to believe are just hatefull middle eastern muslim terrorist crimson jihadest.

Actually, it's more likely to be because you don't want potential terrorists knowing they are being watched.

Wikileaks did not release it because they either did not have it, and never did, or because certain members just got rich and/or not dead.

HA that's a great line!

That being said, I think Wikileaks, whether they did it properly or not, is a response to a growing problem of too much gov't secrecy. There are reams of garbage data that still get a "Top Secret" classification.

Even looking how the gov't responded to the Wikileaks diplomatic cable dump shows you how schizophrenic it is in regards to classified data. Even though it was now in the public domain, federal employees were still to regard it as Top Secret/Classified and thus couldn't read it. So you had State Department employees who had to go talk to their foreign peers, who could be more informed than they were, since they were able to read the leaks.

I'm not a 'damn the man!' at any cost type of guy, but the tighter you attempt to squeeze the more you will see stuff like this, it is a natural reaction.
