First Ever Animated Tattoo?

God that guy needs to pick up some tooth whitening strips.

Having said that, I'd love to get a QR code tattoo......

I think a QR code looks awesome as a tattoo, but when it simply brings up a youtube video it's retarded.

Also this is pretty old, as far as internet stuff goes.

i thought it was going to be an augmented reality tattoo.

just bringing up a youtube video isn't quite as cool to me.

It's just a static barcode, it won't sing on its own in the shower...
It won't be long before someone hacks the QR code URL to change it to a porn movie or ads for viagra... ^-^

Other cool things a magician can do with iPhones on ted.com.

meh.

Let him explain this dumb-ass move when he's 72......and the bar code sags all over the place.

Not sure what is special about it. He got a tattoo and then put a video being played by an iphone on his chest, and?

It's gonna suck when his tattoo pulls up, "This video is no longer available. Sorry!"

Hardly call that "animated." Was expecting an OLED tattoo like they use in t-shirts. When the tattoooer said it changed with the power of his mind, it really sounded exciting. That was just pathetic.

I'll go with fail on the grounds that you are supposed to keep the freshly tattooed area sterile and I’m willing to bet that an iphone that has been sitting in the artists pocket doesn’t quite fall into that category...

Leaving aside the issue of the fact the code itself will probably be obsolete in a few years, I've never understood this attitude of "That's going to look awful when you get old".

Who gives a shit?

What matters is NOW. If someone gets a tattoo and they like it NOW, if they think it looks good NOW, that's all that matters. Even when they do grow old, they'll be able to say "you know, I really liked this tattoo and I think I looked good back then". I think having a good memory like that would be much better than limiting yourself because you were so afraid of old age you even let it stop you from living while you were young.

From the artists' site:

"It's been cut in the edited video, but during the actual session, Karl cleaned and sterilized thoroughly both Marco's chest and the device before triggering the code. [...] The last thing we (and surely Karl) want to do is to promote unprofessional tattooing."

First ever? eh... people have put barcodes on themselves that are actually working, I'm sure people have put those 2d barcodes on themselves as well.

Man what a iDiot

That idea was properly a lot cooler when he was making it up, as the implementation was just lame :(

He was acting like he was re-inventing the wheel, instead of doing something that is actually rather simple.
Also, in no way, shape or form is that an "animated" tattoo.

Would have been so much better if it was a hot chick getting a tramp stamp or an inner thigh tat ;)
