MIT's Recompose Concept Keyboard is Cool

This is kind of neat. Kind of basic right now but I can the application of something like this in use in areas where you might need to manipulate something but unable to physically touch them.

So when do people take concepts like this and make them practical? It seems like always nice "ideas" but never much more beyond that

The field of control is almost to large while using unsteady implements such as your arms and hands. It looks cool and I'm sure you could find very good applications for this but finding said applications will be the tricky part. Don't expect this to replace a keyboard however it could allow for decent manipulation of a multidimensional operating system/platform. The MS Kinect mods and development seem to be farther into this field as far as applications (outside of games) go.

The concept of gesture 'grammar' is interesting and of definite use. The table surface created by a drunk frustrated toymaker almost relegates the video to file and forget. The folks working on this really need a technical writer/producer who can communicate their ideas in a more professional manner.
