I don't think these guys are in the running for parents of the year any more.

A young Chinese couple has sold all three of their children in exchange for money to play online games at Internet cafes, reports a southern Chinese newspaper. When asked if they missed their children, the parents answered, "We don’t want to raise them, we just want to sell them for some money.”

Wow. Words can't seem to properly convey how insane this is. I was addicted to WoW and EQ2 for months at a time, but NEVER to the point of selling anything, esp. another human being (x3 in this case). I believe there is a special place down under (and I don't mean Australia!) for people like these two.

Kids cost money to raise. Parents can get $4600 for a kid. Bonus! That's a lot of gaming cafe hours.

A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater?

That's deplorable. The Chinese courts are going to tear this couple apart.

I wonder how many bitcoins they can get?? Or better yet how much gold in WOW??....

well, IMO, their actions show they made the right choice by selling those kids, at least the ones who bought them might give a shit about them, unlike their birth parents.

At least they are honest about not wanting to raise their kids. Many parents nowadays want the educational system to raise their kids.

<sarcasm>Seems like computers and internet in China is really expensive, when they weren't able to buy 2 computers, one router and one internet subscription from all that money</sarcasm>

Amazing they were allowed to have 3 kids. I thought there were laws against having that many.

Actually, no, there is not such law. But when you have more than 1 kid, they tax the s*** out of you, so only people who can afford to have 2 or more kids have actually 2 or more kids.

If you only have one at a time and sell them before the next one comes you could probably evade that law quite easily.

It's brilliant. Someone wants a child and you can provide it for them, get paid and have more children. It's a renewable resource! :p

"Sorry Yung, but mommy and daddy need that epic level gear!"

geez, the guy should've just pulled out or used a glove. but then again.. they wouldn't have money to play in the internet cafe if he did pull out.....

It's pretty shitty they sold their kids. But at least they admitted to not wanting to raise them instead of being shitty parents. Still kind of funny they sold them to play a game though.

You folks are all jumping the gun.

It's called surrogate motherhood. Pheobe was one on friends.

It's VERY common in china and if the media puts a spin on it claiming the couple did it for gaming funds you get what you have here. An entire fourm of people saying how bad those people are without looking into the facts.

Surrogacy implies an egg and sperm came from people other than the mother and father. Anyway, care to link the "facts"?

This is terrible. But instantly my mind wondered if they got lazy and named the 2nd and 3rd kids Paycheck so they could live paycheck to paycheck. :p

Pretty sure no one in the whole of human history has said that.

Why isn't anyone here happy that they sold their kids? People who would sell their kids should be raising them, so its a win/win/win. Parents get money, kids might not starve to death in a closet, Blizzard gets more money.

Who loses here?

I agree people have lost sight in what's important...I mean come on Epic mounts are really expensive ;)

How much do Chinese kids go for these days? Be kinda nice to come home to some nice stir fry, math homework already done, and clothes nicely pressed. I keed, I keed!

BTW, for those not in the know, the 1-child policy is not something universal throughout China. Outside of the cities, farmer families have been popping em out by the half dozen.

At least the kids are better off...

Damn.

Abortion, it shouldn't just be legal. It should compulsory, at least if these two decide to have any more.

Hopefully you were joking about the compulsory abortion. That's distasteful.

I'm gonna need a hold on this.
Chinese hospitals register each child. A woman who has already had a child gets a forced partial birth abortion.

There is the option that they may have done home birth, but given the fact that "They didn't know they were doing anything wrong" I can't imagine they were wise enough not to kill the poor kids that way.

Godless societies produce this kind of behavior. "Didn't know it was against the law"... and obviously didn't feel any compunction about either leaving a newborn home alone or selling the kids.
