A work around has finally been discovered to resolve the segmentation fault issue when trying to run the F@H Clients on the latest version of Ubuntu (10.10 - Maverick). To enable the work around, here are the console commands and instructions:

Execute sudo apt-get install nscd
Open /etc/nscd.conf with a text editor
Find the line enable-cache hosts no and change "no" to "yes"
Save the file and quit the editor
Execute sudo service nscd restart

The folding client should now work properly. Thanks to the folks at FAH-Addict for finding this.

Oooo now some of our folders that can't change OS should be able to join us in the -bigadv fun!

Well, no. They would still need to install WINE and run the Windows SMP client which was not affected by this bug. This workaround is for the native Linux client which still doesn't support bigadv at this time.

Edit: You are confusing two separate issues here unfortunately. This segmentation fault issue is unique to the latest version of Ubuntu. bigadv is still broken, natively, on all versions of Linux.
