Can i just confirm that others have the relay switch click on the Xonar series cards (Essence more than any). It's pretty loud!

Yes, it happens on my D1 as well.

This is a safety mechanism to prevent voltage spikes on your audio gear, specially if you have an amplifier connected to your card, thus absolutely normal.

That's what i thought, i knew what it was just wondered if it's meant to be that loud, it's louder than i'd expect it to be lol. Gotta love it :)

you have audio out via optical? My DX did this when using optical out, managed to fix it.

i'm going to be using FP headphone and Analogue L+R outputs. In the process of building the workstation area at the moment though so haven't really tested yet. It's good to know that its normal to be that loud though lol

Yeah, the amp on my Essence ST clicks on and off when the computer turns on and when swapping output devices.

Same here on a Xonar DS, evident when switching to front panel audio.
