So I got all the parts ordered. However, after do some more investigation i have a few questions. The first and most important is should I have got SAS drives for this build? From all the posts it seems yes, as I do want the option to expand via external SAS expander. Has anyone successfully used SATA drives in this kind of setup and expanded? The second question is opensolaris (b134) or nexenta core ? Is there any disadvantage with going with nexenta core? I understand opensolaris is all but dead, but the latest build seems to be stable according to most posts. Also, this will mainly be a CIFS share for window 2-3 windows PC's, that will be moving large video files to and from it. Not constantly, more sporadically throughout the day/night.

FYI...Oh yeah, if you get the Norco 4220 chassis make sure you get silent fans. The thing is loud, which is an understatement. I got 4 silent fans for the hard drive bays, but forgot about the back 2 fans. They are super loud, and I'll need to replace those too.
