Hey all , just letting you know there is a mod that you can download to get rid of the yellowish tinge that the original game has, the files that you download give the game a more "natural" look. IMO it looks fantastic.

Check it out. Follow these instructions to enable the mod.

Here are some screenshots I recently took while playing with the mod on my own computer.

The forum has conflicting reports on its methodology, do you mind sharing how you managed to pull this off.

Thanks

Download the mod GridDX10beta02 and the Grid_Mod_Pack_by_Dargo_&_BeetleatWar1977. Back up your GRID files, Cars, Effects, PostProcess, System and Tracks.

Copy the files downloaded into your GRID directory and overwrite. files should be named Ultra_High_V4_Mod_by_BeetleatWar1977 (you don't have to have this file for the mod to work) only if you want ultra high reflections.

Second mod from Dargos that comes with the download should be Dargos_Mod. Copy the Tracks file's from Dargos into your GRID directory and overwrite.

Last, take the files from GridDX10beta02 and copy them into the file in your GRID directory marked as "shaderpack". These combined with the tracks files from Dargos should take the yellow out of the lighting effects.

Very nice. BTW, for those who have this on Steam, make sure you turn off game automatic updating because Steam will probably re-download the files again thinking they are corrupted. Or so I would assume.

Doubt it, it has never had an issue with CSS stuff I install, even when I overwrite existing files.

*snipped rant*

You should chill out. While what I said may not have been the most tactful, it wasn't a personal attack, more of a possible inquiry as to whether the mod made the game less... polished. I will concede that I have never played the game on anything less than my laptop @ 1920x1080 with all settings maxed so your screenshots did not look like the game I had seen.

If you really want to see the mod @ 2560x1600 I'll be glad to set it up next week, but you don't need to attack my video cards. You would believe someone would buy them if you ran this resolution, it really makes a big difference to run the best. Before these I had a pair of 5970s and before that a pair of GTX 295s and I will continue on the path I deem best to serve my gaming fancy, undeterred by fanboy'ism and trolls.

Please post high rez pics!! I used to love this game a lot. A couple months ago i bought a Driving Force GT, tried it out with this game but didnt like it too much... i was busy playing Dirt 2.

none the less, I would love to see high quality high resolution pics.

I think the pics posted look freakin sweet....

and slinger, you're just trying to justify it by using the term "best"
yea 2x 480's are better that 2x 5970's ?
how do you figure that?

Game looks great originally. And Yea those screenshots are horrible. I haven't played it yet on my 5850, but on my 260 (all maxed out), looked way better. This was on a 22in screen.

Sweet though, I'll give it a try.

Like I said before, im playing it at 1680 with everything on high and 2xaa all original textures. Nothing else has been changed from the original game. All this mod does is take the yellow tinge away from the HDR lighting. There is a separate mod that includes Ultra resolution textures and reflections for the vehicles. I did install and it looked great but my machine just wasn't up to the challenge of the 4096 textures and shadows, I could play it but only at about 30-40 frames probably due to my video card only have 512 megs of VRAM.

In regards to the screenshots being horrible, maybe you should re-visit the game, it is going on 4 years old and a racing game at that. That being said I still think its one of the best racing games I've seen.

Anyways. Thanks to those who gave constructive responses and hope to see some Higher resolution pics in the future.
