I've had an 8800GTS G92 512MB sitting around for a year and finally decided to throw it in since research showed that going from x16 to x8 causes a very minimal loss.

Specs: C2D E8400 @ 4GHz, 4GB RAM, WIN7 64bit, GTX285 + 8800GTS G92

I used Batman Arkham Asylum to test on my system, I turned everything on and to high in the config, disabled VSYNC and turned physics to high.

Columns are as follows:
Code:
[FONT=Fixedsys]    GTX285 | w/8800GTS | change
min   22   |     38    |  +16
max   60   |     99    |  +39
avg   41   |     69    |  +28[/FONT]
I didn't remove the 8800GTS for the GTX285 stand-alone test so the GTX285 is running x8, add 1-3FPS for x16 numbers. ;)

edit: 1680×1050 resolution!

That's amazingly good gains with the 8800GTS. I never would've known that PhysX could have so much of a difference.

To go along with this, check out my thread HD5770 bottlenecked by 9800GT for PhysX too. The GTS is better than the GT, but even a single 5770 did better with a GTX285 for a PhysX card than with a 9800GT.

If you have an old card just sitting around, you might as well toss it in. If you're going out and buying a card specifically for PhysX, you might want to spend a little more and get something with a little more power if you plan to really make use of PhysX a lot.
