I like this idea...but I cant guarantee making it on often. I have a friend who might though haha.

What class / tracks do you plan to race...so that I can get some practice??? Otherwise - I'm liable to rear end the shit out of somebody or be all over the lanes and make passing a dangerous feat :D

EDIT: derp, just saw that you specified formula master. Is it gonna always be that though?

Personally, Im a big fan of the WTCC and radical sr3 252's haha. I'll run anything though...
 
Hey thisperishedmin - looking forward to racing with you & your buddy.

We can run anything - It's all fun!
Personally, I like tight, technically challenging tracks.
Big cars on small tracks are great fun too like the STCC Camaro Cup.

GTR EVO has a ton of stuff from other games too, like all GTR-2 & GTL content!
Also, mods for DTM's, V-8 Super cars & Mustang SE are great fun too.

Remember these great racing cliches: You have to slow down to go fast.
It's not always the fastest guy who wins the race, but the guy who doesn't crash!

BTW - I'm going to experiment with a dedicated server this week on my "old box" (sig).
If it all works out, I may start running it all day Sunday's for practice sessions.
I gotta' learn to make it rotate tracks or run a mod & a custom championship.
 
I got a dedicated server to run so tracks will rotate without exiting & re-joining.
I'll set it up tonight @ 6pm for qualifying.

I am just learning how to use the "dedicated server" thing.
I had several AI running at 100% difficulty with collision turned on.
There was some "stutter" that I expect to reduce without the AI & collision settings.
In the mean time... I'll run my dedicated server every night this week to figure it out.

I joined "RaceDepartment.com" last week & ran the 2pm CST Sunday race.
Great group of guys, but all from Europe & no weeknight race times will work.
Anyway, I just wanted to throw it out there for racers that want to race weekends.

derp! I forgot again... I'll have to check out the skins. Sunday practice all day would be a neat time to join up and run some hotlaps as well.

What cars did you end up running this past night?

I bought this game and now I think I finally got a reason to break it out again. Re-installing via steam now!
 
[H] Racing - dedicated server testing...
I am running a dedicated server on my PC today (Chicago, IL - Comcast Cable).
- I will be out of the house for a meeting tonight @ Hooters... ;D

Look for a MP server called - [H] RACING - DED SRV test

I'd love to get some basic feedback:
- were you able to join the server?
- how many players raced with you?
- did you see a good ping in the MP window?
- - ping numbers & location please...

I was able to Join - Ping was 50 (nashville, TN here), 0 racers online. Ran good though

BTW - I am in Chicago, IL on Comcast cable

When I got home, I saw the server saves chat & several other people joined & chatted & said GR (good race) to each other
- so the game was obviously join-able & smooth enough to have a GR!

*What did you think of 10 minutes to Qualify & 6 lap races?

Looking forward to more info as we proceed...

i thought 10 mins to qual was fine, depending on a track length, 3 shots around usually is enough.
 
10 minutes for qualifying sounds good, and 6 laps sound good too. Which track and cars will we be using on tuesday? I just started playing it yesterday and quickly realized that I need practice lol.
 
We'll run ANY car @ Zandervort Club this week!

Also - because all tracks are so different in length...
- Qualifying is now 12 minutes & Races will be 12 minutes.
- this makes the racing more consistent between events.

Race night CARS will be determined each race night.
- know the track - adjust to the different cars!

WHOO-HOO!

Yo i was thinking of leaving a [H] server up dedicated pretty much 24/7 and i didnt know if you had a suggested name for it so it doesnt take up the [H]Racing, maybe [H]Racing #1 or 2 or something?

As far as a naming convention - I'd suggest something descriptive like:
[H]Racing - Steam Group (which promotes the group on an open server)

On Tuesday night - I'd suggest we do something like:
[H]Racing - Steam Race (we can use a PW later)

This way - we maintain an easy to find prefix: [H]Racing - Steam XXX

What do you think about that as a standard?
- I'm pretty easy going about this kind of stuff...

Ill have one up called [H]Racing - HRacing since it limits me to that many characters. Running Formula Masters on it and selection of stock maps, just so anyone can get in w/o special mods. Figure ill change the mode around once in a while. Its on a solid server and i have comcast biz class @ home with 10mbps up, so shouldnt really be issues with connections.
 
I just saw this thread an had a few question. I play alot of rfactor can someone who has played both point out the likes an dislikes. Also i am die hard F1 guy is there a good F1 mod that people play on this game like sign on an join a race or is it more of a join a club an be on at certain times to race an dead at other times? Im ready to pull the trigger just don't wanna waste cash on something i wont be into.

I suggest you keep reading & see how things develop here - or drop $20 on GTR Evo & get the free F1 mod!
- not a MILLION servers online but all of them are @ PRO settings (lots of free tracks though)!

I tried rFactor F1 mods... I think it is pretty much equal <> equal with GTR... and most are PRO settings...

Personally, I love mods - but it's tough for people to keep up without a dedicated website.
Most dedicated sites are built around guys who run more than once a week @ PRO.

My purpose was to create a PICK-UP group that may only get to race once a week.
- that's why I chose SEMI-PRO as the standard.

I can make the cockpit changes, im just used to iracing where thats the only option. I am running it as dedicated through the tools. Ill be on tonight in and out till about 7pm when i can get my kid to sleep :)
 
Yep, I played Live For Speed & it was pretty much cockpit only.
- I tried iRacing too & it was great, but not worth the monthly fee for 4-8 races a month.

Anyway.... it is finally TUESDAY - so we'll be running RACE @ SEMI-PRO
- I think it is best to allow any perspective view for SEMI-PRO - thx!

I am about to give up on this game. I can't figure out how to go forward, this sounds dumb, but its the stupid game. What the hell do I have to do to move? I can shift gears, but when I press the gas the car just revs up. Changing gears does nothing, and I even checked the outside view to make sure the brakes and gas were not being pressed at the same time.

I have tried both auto and manual, with no luck. I am using the Driving Force GT. Also tried autoclutch both on and off. No change.

configure your controls? I know that sounds dumb, but you may need do something with combined pedal reporting with the logitech. But make sure you assign your pedals to your gas, break, etc in the game.


Also, Talk2Troy, no sign of server online yet?

do you have another controller attached to ur pc?

i have to disconnect my xbox 360 controller when running this game for my logitech momo to work correctly...

Some wheels do not play well with game pads plugged in at the same time.
