XFi Card disappeared with install of 4870x2
I just installed a 4870x2. After installing the new drivers my audio card, an Xfi Xtrememusic has disappeared. I'm sure it is tied to the card and probably hdmi but I can't find a way to turn it off/go back to the sound card. A search of the forum has brought an answer since the terms show up in people's signatures.
All help is appreciated.

Just a quick update. I don't know what happened but after reseating the card (I swear it wasn't moved in the first place) and a restart it showed up in device manager again. However, the drivers for it were long gone. Did a reinstall of drivers and everything came back.

X-fi can be iffy. Probably bumped it when you installed the hd4870x2 and caused it to missalign and not be recognized. When I used x-fi this was a gripe for me too that whenever I would bump into the card it would sometimes just become not identified until I reseated it.

I've have an X-Fi Xtreme Music for almost 3 years now and it has Never done anything like this. And I don't just let my system sit there all the time. What with overclocking and modding and installing new video cards, RAM, etc.

Stuff like this happens pretty easily. I used to have a case that was just warped enough that if you bumped it the video card would have to be reseated. And Creative cards do tend to lose the drivers if the come loose. Or if you switch slots.

Hello, I'm having trouble with my 2 years old X-Fi XtremeGamer. When I reinstall drivers (but no restart), everything works like charm. After single restart some applications (like foobar2000) continue to work (e.g. plays sound) but other (like Media Player Classic + everything else) doesn't work. When I open Control Panel - Sound there's message: No device found. I'm using suspend function (sleep) so I haven't found it out immediately. Today I suspended my computer and it didn't (some failrue) so I shut it down then started it up later. Everything works normally except no sound.
Can anybody help me, please?
