HELP. X-FI Xtrememusic DELL OEM - no Dolby/DTS
Hi all,
I have an OEM Xtrememusic, on the board it says SB0460, but on the says something like MASB0467****** - This thing came with a DELL Dimension, and I think it is a DELL OEM. Now my problem lies in the fact that I could never for the life of me get the Decoder TAB to show up in audio console, plus the logos of Dolby and DTS, also does not show up in the main screen of the console launcher like in the picture below, I already know that DELL oems are crap coz they say DTS and Dolby are supported via software only e.g. PowerDVD, but I also know some people have gotten it to work with some modded drivers or the like. Now a few things I need to know that someone here might be able to answer. ![]() 1. If there are modded drivers/software suite out there like YouP-PaX that does what I want, which ones do I get, and what is the order of things that I would install them? I kinda need a guide to follow. 2. I've also noticed that the X-FI Platinum and the Xtrememusic are essentially the same card, I want to be able to Flash my card and turn it to a Platinum so I don't need modded drivers/software suite. If this is too much to ask, I would just like to Flash my card with a RETAIL Xtrememusic BIOS/Firmware, for the same reason, so I don't need to use modded drivers/software suite.

Have you asked Dell if they have paided for the license to Dolby(Dolby isn't free)?
Trying to enable a feature that isn't paid for is copyright violation...

Have you tried getting the drivers from the Dell website?

What drivers are you using right now? Have you tried the Auzentech drivers?
Do the one from Creative Labs install? If not, you should be able to just edit the .inf file to add the hardware id to make it install. As for enabling the other features.... hrmmm. it should be possible as it is usually pretty easy to hack together a special Creative driver set. I did that with the Sound Blaster PCI-64 to enable the "extra" 64 voices that the PCI-128 had. Same card.. the PCI-128 just had a id chip on it. About 1 month after I released my hacked drivers, Creative released a "new" driver set that enabled the "extra" 64 voices. ![]()

If Dell cut corners to get the sound card into a certain price point, the Dolby stuff would be the first to go.

Correct, trying to enable "Dull-by" without paying for it would be illegal.

I've no problems with other features they were all there. If we get down to it maybe you can help me piece together a custom driver set for me. ![]() By the way, is it possible to use the Auzentech drivers? anything I need to do special?

I have exactly the same problem.
I emailed the pax driver guy and am waiting for a response. The PAX drivers look most promising, but unfortunately still did not work. Here are the drivers: http://hosted.filefront.com/robertmc814/ Check out some of these links: http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-ge...xp-2003-a.html http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-ge...essful-me.html http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...n-working-too/ I tried every single one of these tips, including the infamous daniel_k drivers - nothing worked. There must be something about this card that is different. Its really frustrating.

Don't go off complaining about Creative protecting their own intellectual property and also the licenses they have with Dolby Laboratories when it happens.

You are mistaken, creative supports PAX drivers actually and allow him to do his work.
Im not telling him to enable features that are breaking the law, but im saying that his driver make things work on vista for example that don't function as they should, also on a side note Official Creative Drivers enable DTS/Dolby sound with my OEM card. If the official drivers allow it then it is legal. Please don't jump to conclusions, since creative cripples cards on vista compared to xp. It isnt breaking the law when you don't have Spidif working correctly and download a driver to make it work, I like how hostile this forum can be when all im trying to do is help the guy out with drivers that make his card work; Not much of a community when you jump on someones balls like that. has something changed because the last time we covered this and the Daniel K fiasco Creative was indifferent on hacked drivers.. even on their "own" forums.

anything that enables dolby could cause issue with creative labs. because dolby sure got its lawyers on creative labs' butt for 'allowing' daniel_k drivers to exist. dolby must have its money!
