My MurderMod experience

I haven't seen much posted here about the MurderMod store and their offerings so I thought I would share my great experience here. Many people have seen the Murderbox as of a year ago and since I've just loved the case and setup. For a long time I too wanted the same thing but it just wasn't possible until recently.

Luckily for me Charles of Murderbox started selling the entire fully modded TJ07. My whole experience from first contact to now has been the most positive experience I've ever had with computers. The customer service I received was absolutely top notch. That really set the tone with my whole experience. When the case arrived it was perfect. Perfectly packed, every screw in it's proper position, perfect powdercoat, lots of extra screws of various sizes, and a lot of little freebies and surprises that I surely didn't expect. It also comes with a murderMod MDPC-X Psychopack sleeving kit which really was a plus. The sleeving is a great product that matches the high quality standards that MurderMod provides.

The front faceplate is really slick. It looks incredibly good and the water-jet cutting is just amazing. The way the included stealthed drive opens is really nice, a very high quality feel. It's very stunning in person, and I have to say that I am very pleased with it.

I was a little timid of modding the case at first but with a lot of planning and careful consideration I was able to really complete the build exactly the way I wanted. What's so nice about buying this case is that most anyone can do this themselves and achieve the highest quality system without breaking the bank. I have never seen another high end boutique offer their products with equally high quality standards as MurderMod provides. To say it makes me feel special is an understatement.

I know they have many more products that are currently being designed and will be sold shortly. They are going to break into Lian Li modifications and extra perfectionist modding gear. If you live outside of North America or Australia then Nils (DualBrain) will take great care of you to ensure you receive the same treatment. He is the genius behind the sleeving and takes great care of the European market. These two guys make one hell of a great team, so watch out for more from them.

There are a few details I still want to address but I couldn't be happier with how my build went. It was definitely worth every penny. Very Nice case. I just dont get the dreadlock sleaving to me its not very clean. Thats just my opion other than that It looks perfect.

It doesn't get better than this...I want one.

I've been watching the few that have popped up on the web and ALL of them look good. Being able to begin your build from a murderMod platform has to be an incredible experience.

Normally I hate obvious branding on cases (like some of Thermaltake's Civic Type R attempts).

But...

Damn does that look slick. Best looking grills, ever, too (I doubt much air would get through, but it would be very leet air for having gone through such a grill.)

Did you buy the PSU sleeved or did you get to have the fun of doing it that way?

BTW, that same grade of sleeving is cheaper at Fry's, I made a thread about it at XS.

Man, whoever did that did the aesthetics and modding amazingly well, but did a very mediocre job on cable management.

Now since no one bothered to ask or perhaps i was looking too close. In the pic right above "The very sexy grill" picture, isn't that lcd bay readout in backwards? Like i said i probably am just looking to hard into it but just bothered me....

It's not Techflex Clean Cut, it's MDPC-X custom sleeving.

The main difference between this and Clean Cut is the diameter - it's between 1/8" and 1/4" which is perfect for PSU wires - no show through as is the case with the 1/8"; or loose, droopy sleeving you get when using 1/4".

As for the price; you get much more in a murderMod Psychopack than just one type of sleeving. To get 100 feet of Clean Cut from Fry's you'd have to buy 7 packs of 16 feet @ $6.99 /each. That's $48.93 - and it's not even the right diameter. I've used both and have found the MDPC-X to be the perfect sleeving for PSU wires.

For the additional $7.50 that the murderMod Psychopack costs, you get:

10 feet of 3:1 heatshrink for the MDPC-X sleeving
12 feet of Custom SATA sleeving
2 feet of 3:1 heatshrink for the SATA sleeving
6 feet of 5/8" large sleeving
1 foot of 3:1 heatshrink for large sleeving
6" of jumbo heatshrink for large sleeving

Not bad for $7.50

Eh, I've stated my views before. The murderbox is a great looking case, is overpriced for what it is, and removes the majority of the fun of modding a computer.

If I had a large amount of cash to throw around without recourse, and no time to mod, I would probably pick up a murderbox

I wanted to sleeve every individual cable and display them as such. If I wanted to completely hide the cables I could have, but I like to think I'm celebrating nice parts and that is important to this build.

There is an Aquaero installed on the inside of the machine facing the inside. It looks nice with the temperature and fan speed displays but 99% of it is viewed while in windows. With a good size window there is plenty to see.

It may seem pretty expensive for just a case at first, but once you realize everything that goes into it, you have to determine if it's worth it for you.

Let me just add up some of the costs.

Right there that is a total of $703.12.

You not only get the parts but you also get:
Pioneer DVD Drive
Powder coated internals and externals
Water Jet cut window in side panel
Hammond boxes for mounting radiators including nice double sided tape
Tons of black screws of various sizes, so many you'll never run out
Lots of pre-drilled holes, including grommets
Nitrile gloves
The best personal customer service
Plus I got so many special little things that made it really nice.

It's not hard to see that MurderMod isn't making much on these cases. Water jet service charges don't decline much for a larger volume and much of this is very time consuming.

I think the biggest factor in buying this case was knowing the quality standard I was going to receive. Everything was as good as I could have imagined, everything. There is no way I could achieve this result by myself or going around to my local shops. The amount of small details and high quality work was very much worth every penny for me.

I've had a wide variety of cases, from cheap to high end, powder coated and custom painted, pre modded and self modded, and this has definitely topped them all.

It's obviously not for everybody, but I'm sure it has to appeal to some.

Its pretty nice looking, but I personally woulden't pay that much money for a case... as a matter a fact i have never spent more than $100 on a case and i never intend to... so even the inital case itself for $360 to me is insane...

that being said, if you want a really expensive well done case, and you really want to impress, make it yourself... so that you can say you built it with your hands and sweat... not your checkbook... but to each their own...

it was not that long ago here that if you purchased a case that came with more than one blowhole, or a window, you were buying a "premod", and therefore scorned and look down upon... how times have changed lol

additionally, i think sleeving the individual cables in the ATX connector is kinda silly.. i mean, the whole point of sleeving (to me at least?) is to make things look more sleek and organized, not to just make all your wires the same color... for that you should have just painted them

finally if i paid that much money for a case the last thing i would want cut out all over it is some companies name... if it said blue aqua in it or something, that would be cool, but having it say murdermod all over it is kinda lame...

i am sorrt if it sounds like im ripping on you, becuase thats not what im doing, although i am a little uncomfortable as to how much your post sounds like an ad... im just trying to point out that besides sleeving your cables, you havent modded anything, you bought a case and paid someone to make it what you wanted...

FLECOM, I've built a lot of machines and I respect your opinion. I just enjoyed the whole process so much I wanted to share it. I actually put a lot more work into this case than any other build I've ever done. Murdermod did the things I could not do, and that was well worth the money. Charles has become a good friend of mine in the process and that might skew my opinion, but I what you do with your money is entirely up to you at the end of the day, and whether you're happy with your choices.

well thats good to hear that you enjoyed the process etc... after all thats all that really matters right?

it does look good i must admit, i especially like how EVERYTHING is the same color, including I/O plates etc.... but besides the money, the case functionally wouldent really work for me (need more optical drives etc)... but hey, if you got the money, and it works for you, more power to you

additionally, aqua computer, while expensive, is always sexy

That's such a clean case, $900 is pretty darn steep though.
