Blurred text when using a 1080p hdtv as a monitor...normal?

I just purchased a samsung LN37A550 37" hdtv. It supports 1080p, resolution 1920x1080. I thought that since my video card would be sending the same 1920x1080, that the text would be fine..but its not. PC gaming is good, no problems there. But whenever trying to view text, browse the web, or do anything like that, most of the text is blurred. Its connected from the dvi of my video card(ati 4850) to the hdmi of the tv. Is there any way to get around this, or is this why a 37" hdtv is $999 and a 30" monitor is far more?

another question to this, instead of going with this 37" hdtv, would I possibly be better off going with something like 2 samsung T260HD's(or 1 T260 and 1 T260HD)? They'd be alittle less than the price of the 37" tv

sharpness to 0 and under picture -> picture options -> size set that to Just Scan (it's Samsung's name for 1:1 pixel mapping). Head over to AVSforum and search their LCD forum to find a full listing of calibration settings for the A550 series LCDs.

just took a look at AVSforums, that definitely seems like the place i need to start poking around on. I'll play around with it. thanks for the quick replies guys

Switch it to PC mode. (Relabel input as PC, switch HDMI input if necessary, see manual for which one...)
