GF 9800 GT to be rebranded 8800 GT

*sigh* is right.. lets confuse the customers even more.. i remember nvidia marketing saying something about simplifying the naming scheme while back in some thread.. lol.

i hope the 55nm will be 10-20c cooler.. 8800GT runs really hot with stock, i have 2 of them and both have 3rd party cooling.. pic in my sig :p

What? They have 9800 GT with 55nm and 65nm chips with identical power consumption

I know everyone is clamoring for a real advance at the high end from nVidia (myself included). But really, having a 8800GT (rebranded as 9800GT) fabbed at 55 nm means 8800GT performance at a cheaper price point. *This is good for the PC gaming ecosystem.*

The more 3850/3870/9600GT/8800GT class cards out there, the better. Hopefully these will get to the <$100 price point range. As more and more 55 nm capacity becomes available from nVidia's fab partners, I'm sure the mix will shift towards 55 nm for the 9800GT
