Hey all, I am trying to gather data from here, EOC and XS about how these 8 series cards are clocking for people.

I am going to do as "Thread" did at EOC and create a spreadsheet with user names and the clocks they have achieved. It will contain data from the three sites in a big spreadsheet with the following info:

- Username
- Brand/Model
- Core/Mem Clock
- Cooling method
- Idle/Load Temps
- Misc info. i.e. - volt mods, thermal paste changed, bios mod etc..
*** If you would like, you can include a 3DM06 score (link would be helpful) and your CPU specs so we can see how the overclocks help. (thanks MassiveOverkill!)***
(for those of you that have already posted your clocks, feel free to edit your post with the '06 scores and CPU specs. I will run through the thread again to check for them when I update the chart.)

So if you guys could provide the info above, I will gather all the data together for one big spreadsheet. I was very interested in the results over at EOC, and hope that we can discuss these results more.

Please! If you do participate, take a look at this first: LINK . This is to be sure you are reporting accurate clocks, and getting the most out of your card. Saying that you are running "660" core is a dead giveaway that you have not read about how these cards clock ;)

Feel free to suggest any other info you guys think may be a good idea to include.

I understand that there is already a thread about everyones clocks here at the [H] ( link ), and I will more than likely go through it and pull out the info I am looking for, but that thread was based on if the vanilla cards can clock to SC speeds, and it kind of morphed into a post your clocks thread. I am starting this one in the hope of possibly pulling in more people and to more specifically discuss the in's and out's of clocking the 8 series cards.

Update: June 28th

Wow, I've been away for what feels like ages.. I just got done moving into a new home and have finally had some time to mess around on the 'puter. I volt modded my core and have reached 729 with 1.4V! I am testing further to be sure it is stable at this speed, but it is looking good so far!

Anyways, I updated the charts with what I could find, and I would also like to mention that some people have shown interest in including 3DM06 scores and cpu specs to better gauge the performance difference that overclocking these cards has.

I'm sure i can get more out of it. When i try 648/1512 Rivatuner shows the shaders with a yellow color...lol. Its been stable at my above speeds and when i have time i'll try the core at 648 again.

KENNYB, I think riva tuners showing yellow as your limit for that graph is 1512, default. You can manually adjust the limit by going to SETUP (in the Graph) >highlight Core clock/ shader domain > Setup.

So far, I have mine stable @ 657 (648 effective) Core clock, 1512 (Somethings wrong with my shader, it won't move after 640-ish; need to work this out), and 1066mhz (1053mhz effective) memory.

No other mods (yet!)

dot_Zen,
Thanks for the help. Yellow usually means caution. I thought it was probably something benign but i haven't had much time to benchmark. Been wasting, err spending my free time playing instead. I see i'm practically the only person not running my mem at 1GHz.

- Cooled via stock HSF
- 53c idle / 72c load

- hemi
- EVGA 8800GTS (640MB)

- Water, EK 8800GTS
- 40C/47C (using RTHDRIBL in a 1680x1050 window, 4x multisampling)
- AS5 core, Ceramique elsewhere

FWIW, using the NV control panel "detect optimal" clocks option takes it to 688/1071, which nets the above in rivatuner.

The highest stable settings for me in ATI Tool are 690/1500/1950. At least that's how I set them.

If you guys know about the stepping in 8800 overclocking (you need Rivatuner to see the various overclocking steps, since you can't actually increase the clocks 1mhz at a time), Rivatuner shows the actual clocks for my card are 684/1512/1944 as above.

I would do the VMOD and take the core higher (I'm running cool enough), but the thing is fast enough for me, already. Maybe when I feel a pinch in the future, or something.

EDIT: Based on my current greater understanding, turns out I am actually running with the following settings (everything else the same) 675 core, 1566 shader, 1998 mem. Changed above to reflect reality. :D

Where can I get this volt mod? My card won't go past those clocks.

I'm doing a very modest 600/900MHz on my 8800GTS/640MB from Asus with the stock cooler (67C/78C at idle/load). I have just ordered the ThermalRight HR-03 PLUS though, we'll see how that does with a 120mm fan mounted to it. :)

Maybe it's posted somewhere else but what is considered to 'load' the card in all these instances? GAmes vs. running atitool for example (or rthridbl) create very different "top" temps.

-Dell OEM 8800GTX (Still has all the original NV decals)
-621/1044 tested
-RivaTuner 2.01
-Stock Cooling, Antec 900 case/ with extra 120mm in side and Antec Cyclone Blower

I'll update with temps in a little while, wanna try out to see if I can get my mem clock a bit higher. I've also found that testing in 3DMark'06 is inconclusive since OC will pass that will fail in game. I also wanna change my memory configuration in my system too 3GB (2x1GB and 2x512MB from 3x1GB) since that runs better, just haven't had the time to work on it.

I believe ViperJohn stated that looping 3Dmark01's Nature scene loaded up the core the best. I think ATI-Tool and RTHRIBLE loads mine about 5C less than my max load.

Best I've been able to do with a Thermalright HR-03 on air is 675|1027 (2054 effective).

The card doesn't overheat or artifact beyond that core clock it just freezes after a short time testing which leads me to believe I would need a V mod to go further. I am thinking about attempting to flash an Ultra BIOS to see if that would bump my voltage up.

Did you take a look at the Madshrimps link? Link

It has the info you will need to volt mod these cards.

I have updated the charts up to this point, I would like to thank all that have replied!

That load temp is running rthribl and ATITool's artifact scanner.

I guess I should switch to Rivatuner from ATITool so I can turn my fans up. 81c is what? Almost 180f. I only grill my steaks to like 145-150... Hell, you don't even have to get chicken higher than 165-170.

Mmmm... steak...

stock - my computer puts a big enough dent in my power bill already, 8xQ+MSAA, 16xHQAF runs fine for me as is.

65C ambient? That's really high isn't it...have you checked this w/ riva tuner?

Can we include 3DMark06 scores and CPU type/speed so we can track performance differences related to each?
