***EDIT***

Also it appears as if some official releases are heading our way, these are 158.18 Vista 32bit and 64bit

I would also like to state that early testing shows us that Vista x64 STILL has bugs with SLI and machines using 4Gb of RAM, anyone with this setup and a 7xxx SLI card(s) will not be able to use SLI correctly unless they disable memory remapping in the motherboard BIOS in which case available memory drops from 4Gb to ~2.5Gb

Hmmmm...Interesting.....

Looks like someone's been counting their chicks before they have been released..At least, maybe getting some internal id numbers in order. ;) Wonder if they're just waitin' for a party near the Ivory coast to kick off..Time will Tell.

I typically wait until I see them on the front page of guru3d's downloads... (these are not there at the moment)

hmm just tested with 7900gs and vista32. texture problems in css, but otherwise a little better performing than before. that said, vista performance is still far subpar to xp.

Guru3d wouldnt post the 158's because they were under NDA, prolly the same with these. I wouldnt bother waiting on someone elses morals... :D

Addition in first post guys, there's a link on the Nvidia website to the 158.18 drivers now.

Working with 7800GTX SLI on XP. Control panel crashed a couple of times, but performance is up by 70 points in 3DMark 06, and 200 in 3DMark 05.

Why are we going from 101 to 150's/160's?

What is the point in that jump, Nvidia? I JUST installed new 8800 drivers too. ugh

It's part of nVidia's current PR strategy. The jump in version numbers was designed to give the end user the impression that they have re-focused the efforts of their driver development team and have been furiously pumping out internal driver releases.

This is making me nervous. I think Nvidia is trying to keep me as a customer. Rapid driver releases and a download speed of 700kb on their site... wow.

How are these working in XP does anybody know. Ive been waiting for a better set. I could use some more STALKER Performance out of my GTS also. If nobody has tried them I will when I get home tonight.

I just want to know why the hell Nvidia has removed the links to XP and earlier OS downloads for the 7 series  i click geforce 7 series and its just vista X64 and 32

Well, there are some official (though BETA) drivers available directly form nvidia. Released today. These are some leaked ones whose pedigree is unknown. :(

Now that I'll buy into! ....pun...

Why complain about new driver releases?

It was a complaint...but it surely wasn't about a driver release.. It was a gripe over the pain of uninstalling..rebooting..installing..rebooting. The new drivers were more difficult than usual to install. We all complain, so I will forgive you for complaining about complaints :p

No kidding.. and I got 1.55mb/sec :D I was definitely pumped about that.

does this include the VistaMCE purevideo stuff so we can use the purevideo decoder in hardware mode in VistaMCE?

I finally hit 10,379 3dmarks06 with this driver, heh. Not bad. Previous high was 9871. Now to test with games.

Edit: this was with the 158.19 drivers

I tested with UT2K4 - seems smoother. I shall test Armed Assault later.

Also, as commented in another thread - I like the new CP layout. Only issue I've experienced with it is blank options under aa/af etc. They only show themselves when I hover over where the options should be. Other than that, OK for now. More testing needed.

NVidia has posted ForceWare 158.18 (beta driver for Windows Vista) on their driver page.
This driver is indeed a full-featured driver which includes support for all 8/7/6 Series GPUs, including DX9 and OpenGL single-GPU and SLI support. In addition to a passel of bugfixes, support for 1680x1050 as a non-standard mode (22" widescreen displays, such as those form Acer and Gateway support this mode as a native resolution) is included for all listed GPUs, in both single and SLI modes.

Actually you're wrong. Certain app's look at the driver version and respond accordingly. With all prior driver version #'s consisting of 2 digits (that are in the 8x.xx and 9x.xx range) some developers code their applications to only look for 2 digits to the left of the decimal. If you go to 101.24, said app would read it as 01.24, causing problems with looking like some incredibly old drivers. The larger # scheme resolves the issue.

Tested with Armed Assault. Sorry for the lack of numbers, I've not got FRAPS installed, but I can say that there is a HUGE performance increase with these drivers. I've been able to crank the resolution up a notch (now 16*12), along with all in-game settings to max (previously all on high) - all at very smooth frames. HOWEVER - there is still the massive slowdown problem with a certain bush (looks a little like weed), usually placed around trees. When you're close to them the frames tank.

So I don't get it. Which one should I be using, the Forceware 165.01 Vista x64 or the 158.18 Vista x64??

Well, personally from my experience, I've decided to stick with the 'official' releases or beta releases off of nvidia website and forego the super beta drivers in most cases, it's just not worth it.

This sucks there is no way to control the fan threw these new drivers. I hope Riva tuner does.
But I got about 90 more marks not bad for as bottlenecked as my card is.

Edit: I guess the new driver maxes the fan. Or thats what Rivatuner is telling me.

Edit of Edit: Rivatuner says the fan is running at full roar but my temps are 3-4 degrees hotter
