Problems with a hard drive and an external enclosure.

I bought a hard drive as a backup and decided to put it in an external enclosure. I bought the Wester Digital WD2000JB, a Caviar SE 200 GB IDE Ultra ATA 100 hard drive and a Galaxy Metal Gear Box II enclosure. I put the two together and plug it in only to get it to say that a new mass storage device is located. I looked in the device manager and found that it is listed there but I have no idea where to find it to write files onto it. Do I have to format it or something?

Windows+R, diskmgmt.msc, right-click->new partition or format, whichever's there. Assign a drive letter if needed. Done.
