Yate Loon vs. Nexus and what's the most discreet undervolting method?

I just read the air cooling guide and I was wondering about the Yate Loons vs. Nexus' part.

It says that Yate Loons respond well to undervolting, but what does that mean? Can't every fan undervolt just fine except for the really powerful Deltas?

Also what is the best method for undervolting? The case I'm going to be buying the 120mm fans for is an Antec P180 so I can't exactly do a fanbus...

and lastly, are the Nexus' worth the extra cash or no?

thanks in advance!

Undervolting performance varies from fan to fan.

Lots of fans that I've used grind, crackle or tick when you undervolt them to 7-5v.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Yate Loons get my rec. The 4$ ones on jab-tech are SILENT at 7v and push a lot of air.

I just use the 7v method to undervolt when I can't reach the fanbus... Positive lead of fan to 12v molex line, and negative line on the fan to the +5v molex line...

nexus fans dont get my vote, I had one that developed bearing noise after a few weeks!

7volt on a molex is the best way w/o a fan bus

id get yateloons

they are like $4 and the best value for fans... they are fairly quite w/o a volt mod so run them at 12v's first to see if they are what you want before you undervolt them

my experience is that ball bearing fans dont undervolt as well and sleeved bearing fans, the BB ones make a rattling or whining noise from my experience

1. Yate loon's respond well to undervolting. Starting voltage is very low, they ramp down the way they're supposed to, and they're cheap.
2. Swap the right wires on one of the fans. plug them all into that one so they're all piggy back'd. Then hook up that one to the power lead, and don't plug anything into the other side. You'll have the first fan undervolt, and the rest of them will too. it works well.
3. No. They're just yate loons with an extra resistor.

Tip: Orange YL > Black YL.

For some reason, they just work better. Less bearing noise (if any), smoother, they just seem.. better. Plus they're a bitcheaper.

orange = MOAR POWER. it's like a Type R sticker. VTEC Just kicked in, y0! RUHHHHHHHHHHH
