Could anyone tell me if the new Merom chips will work in a i915pm chipset motherboard? This is the link to the specs.

http://indigo.intel.com/compare_cpu/showchart.aspx?mmID=101&familyID=7&culture=en-US

I know that it only states it supports Pentium M processors but if I'm not mistaken they use the same socket and the board looks like it has the necessary specs to support Merom...

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

No... it won't support Merom. 915 was never capapble of running dual core, nor does it have the correct VRM for it. You'll need 945gm or higher for merom.

Off topic, but didn't Intel change the pinout a little with the new Yonah/Merom socket as well? (from S479 of course)

It'd been great if we had a sticky about the different S478 and S479 sockets back when people had these questions a lot.

yeah, the sockets are different between 915 and 945, yonah and merom have different corner pins then dothan/banias did.
