Dear [H] member

I'm looking for a small, affordable pocket-sized video camera
and would like to spend 200 dollars max on it. I don't have any previous experience with buying this kind of hardware, so bare with me as I divulge my 'demands':

- small & pocket-sized
- preferably 12 MP foto / 1080p video (I don't know if this is possible for the 200 dollar range)
- it doesn't need to have fancy quirks or features; I'm not a professional, it's for occasional movie recording.

I really liked the Canon S100, but it's about twice the money I'ld like to spend :D

grtz,

How about a used or new S95? I have one and love it...

The S100 does look nice!

I would recommend you checking out the Canon ELPH 300 HS $180 1080P, 12MP, Nice wide lens starting 24mm then going to 120mm. Optical zoom during recording unlike the ELPH 100 HS.

Cameralabs.com review of the above.

I don't have this camera, so I can't make too many comments about it. Other than it reviews really well.

Let us know what you end up with, and how you like it.

Edit: The ELPH 310 has image stabilization during video - $210. That would be helpful. You lose the wide 24mm though, but you gain a bit more reach at 224mm vs 120. I'd look hard at this one.
