I'm looking for a monitor in the 24-27" range that supports 120hz. My primary usage of this monitor will be FPS gaming, so responsiveness is more important to me than picture quality. Also, less than 1 frame of input lag is necessary.

So, what monitors would you guys suggest for these requirements?

I'm currently using a BenQ V2400W -- Is it worth making the jump to 120hz? The backlight on my 2nd monitor is going out, so I’m struggling with the option of just replacing it with a cheap alternative and keeping my V2400W or upgrading the primary screen and using the V2400W as my 2nd monitor.

Thanks guys,
Xik

I would be very interested in this too. I have Simulation Sickness so the faster hz would help me out.

You guys are missing out. I'm using the Acer HN274H 27" 3D monitor. The 3D is sick!!!

2D @ 120Hz seems nice, but I haven't seen any other 120Hz monitor to compare to. I could do some tests if you want me to check input lag, etc. Just let me know what I need to do.

What good is it without 120hz? Games seem choppy below 80fps for me and 100fps plus is a must for competitive gaming for me. I'm still looking for a 2ms 30" display @ 120hz. Willing to pay good money too if one exists.

EDIT: Is that Acer HN274H 120hz? On newegg it doesn't say anything about it.

Yes, Acer HN274H is 120Hz. Currently the biggest available (if you can find it). If you are playing competitive then I totally agree you want the higher FPS. 3D isn't too good for competitive anyway since you'll end by getting distracted at how cool the grass looks and then get shot! LOL!

If you want 16:10 1920x1200 or higher res I suggest you request it from the manufacturers themselves as it seems they think the everybody only want 16:9. So far only there exist only 1920x1080 3d monitors. If you want any other properties ask them about that too, like zero input lag and RGB Led backlight and IPS :)

I don't think theres any difference between a "3d ready" or regular 120hz monitor, except 3d ready is guaranteed to have fast crystal switching, typical 2-3ms?

Be very careful with so-called "3d ready" products. A lot of them are falsely marketed (mainly projectors) and aren't actually compatible with most hardware or software. And 120Hz also does not necessarily guarantee compatibility with 3D software. For example, Nvidia requires products to be certified by them to provide support with their driver. So even products with the right specs (ie 120Hz, etc.) will not work unless its actively supported by Nvidia. So if its not on their compatibility list, it probably won't work. AMD is just recently adding 3D support, so a lot of existing 3D products won't work on them (more for technical reasons than political). If you want to do 3D, make sure you specifically see that model listed on either of these pages (depending on which type of video card you have):

I have the s27a950 and couldn't be happier. No lag. It is ultra responsive. I think this is the best 27" 120hz out there.
Problem is you can not order it in the USA, you have to buy it from Canada.

Acer HN274 Review

To sum things up, slow response time (on par with a 5ms TN), medicore contrast and ok colors.

The Samsung S27A950D Review is the only good and only other 120hz 27". Unlike the Acer, it is actually fast and has good colors out of the box.

You don't need 80+fps, all you need is a stable frame rate, if the FPS is unstable games will seem choppy due to random slow downs+speed ups. Running a 60hz monitor with an uncapped frame rate will result in slow downs.

If responsiveness is important some of the BenQ XL240T displays are slower than most 60hz monitors (some say the newer revisions are faster, more likely they don't notice the ghosting which is harder to see with higher FPS) and the 27" Acer should be avoided.
