you forgot the 8800GTS 512. That was basically the precursor to the 9800GTX. The GTS was an awesome card though, my first vid card. Basically a 8800GTX for less money.

I think eyefinity is stupid, and I'll never consider it for home use as a gaming enthusiast. I'd like to see more features from nvidia to combat eyefinity. Power is great, but I wanna see innovation and features, and eyefinity sucks.

It's as useless as that 3d vision, maybe more so.

Says the guy that never used Eyefinity. If you think having a five foot stretch of LCDs in front of you sucks then who am I to argue with suckage?

I'd like to see nVidia offer the same. Whether it's used or not, the choice would be welcome.

in theory they can do it as well. they are not going to be able to hook up 6 monitors anytime soon but they can at least do two if I recall. all it would take is a BIOS update and some driver work

I was going to wait for the 300 series before upgrading again, but I have a feeling I will have a 5870 or two by years end.. and maybe a couple more LCDs..

I guess I consider eyefinity people to be computer spec enthusiasts, or people who buy games because they can turn up particles really high. I'm more of a competitive gamer and eyefinity is useless and impractical for me in every way. Essentially, all the effort ATI put into eyefinity I want nvidia to put into better gameplay/power/features that are everyday usable.

What percentage of their market is going to you that feature?

It might or might not blow away the 5800 series. But I can't wait to see it. Competition is a good thing.

As far as 1 vs 2GB, if you max settings and crank the AA up enough on crysis you can use more than 1GB of V.ram. You'd need 3 GTX 380s to get more than a slideshow at those settings though. More than 1GB of V.ram is rarely useful.

and as for Nvidia system its first an HPC component then a video card (maybe? who really know? just reading the white paper) even so look at what they are wanting it to do, run physx, render graphics, and AI at the same time. the standard frame buffer scenario probably doesn't apply it may even need that exorbitant bus to do all that.

We're all enthusiasts here. I'm sure a large number of us take this hobby fairly seriously with the means to somewhat back it up. AMD certainly sees some sort of market. This is akin to asking why they bother offering SLI as a feature? What percentage of users SLI a pair of 5870 or GTX285?

I was referring to the highend market and I would say that the percentage of people using eyefinity in that market is very, very small. I think the money would be better spent on working on their drivers much like I have said about Physix and 3d vision.

Fermi is going to be slower and cost more than 5970.
