If it met all the other factors for good quality (IPS, and the rest of the factors NCX always mentions), it would be a good deal. Somehow i HIIIIIGHLY doubt it is IPS, much less matching the other quality factors.

That one linked was a TN panel not IPS.

To me that is not "budget" by any means.

You expect to get a 24/27" quality monitor for under $300?

1080p? Yes.

I run triple Dell 27" 1440P IPS Ultrasharp monitors, that I spent about $550 on each brand new. Now that to me is money well spent. I personally cannot see spending $350+ on ANY 1080P monitor. Just my .02

Oh yeah sorry thought you were talking about 1440p ones for under $300 :). I could never go back to 1080p after using a 30" w/ side 20" PLP

There are lots of factors besides just size. Have you seen NCX's lists above? There's a reason he finds big things wrong with almost all the monitors he lists even in his "best of" lists. High-quality monitors are extremely rare, at any size, and as a result a quality monitor of any size is going to be expensive since they are more expensive to produce (and have less people buying them, less savings on units produced).

I will take a high-quality 1080p monitor over a lower quality monitor of a larger size any day. Especially since current technology still has significant difficulty running high-end games on high-end settings at high FPS on resolutions above 1080. Quality over quantity as far as I am concerned.

according to PCMonitors and posts at OCUK, these will be "overclocked" to allow freesync to run from 30hz all the way up to 160 !!

Great googly moodily!!! :D

Nice to see scalers being able to exploit more of the very broad range that Freesync can cover.
From AMD said:
AMD Radeon™ graphics cards will support a wide variety of dynamic refresh ranges with AMD FreeSync™ technology. Using DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync, the graphics card can detect and set an appropriate maximum and minimum refresh rate based on the capabilities reported by the display. Potential ranges include 36-240Hz, 21-144Hz, 17-120Hz and 9-60Hz.

What's with these high $$$ 1080p monitors?! I would love to give the freesync stuff a try, but I will not put my QNIX back in it's box until there is a 1440p monitor worth looking at.
