$499 for the pro kit with four buttons, six dials and four sliders.

Even with premium clicky everything, you're looking at like $30 in parts to do this, and it's absolutely trivial to prototype with an Arduino (not suggesting that Arduino should be the basis for a commercial product, but certainly something like an ATmega32U4 with the standard AVR toolchain would be fine)
