G700s back button stopped working

The back and forward buttons on my Logitech G700s suddenly stopped working both in browsers (Chrome, FF and IE) and BF4. I lived with it and subsequently built a new system, but they still wouldn't work. I tried the Logitech software and other settings to no avail. I worked through Logitech to fix it and they sent me a refurbished mouse, but it too doesn't work. Finally I found my old G7 and it works perfectly. What the heck is preventing my G700s from working properly?

What do you have it mapped to in LGS?

I had checked that, but took another look anyways. Sure enough, I'm an idiot. There are two buttons stacked one above the other in both the forward and back positions. I just needed to map forward and back for the second set of buttons...the ones I was actually clicking. Doh!
